Antaira Technologies has launched a turnkey solution kit that extends the reach of 10/100 Ethernet and 802.3at PoE over UTP copper cabling up to 800 meters for reliable point-to-point connectivity. Eliminating the need for a local power supply, Antaira LEP-401M-KIT LAN extenders are ideal for deploying remote PoE (15W) and PoE+ (30W) powered devices, such as IP surveillance cameras, access points, and VoIP phones, beyond the 100-meter distance limitations of Ethernet cabling.

Antaira's LEP-401M-KIT contains a long-reach transceiver and receiver, both housed in IP30-rated metal enclosures hardened to withstand harsh industrial conditions and a wide temperature range (-40° to 75° C), along with all necessary hardware for wall mounting. There is no easier way to tackle the challenges of extending Ethernet infrastructure in industrial automation, traffic surveillance, city-wide security, and many military and utility applications where environmental conditions exceed commercial product specifications.

Supported by 55-57VDC, the transceiver has one RJ-45 10/100 Ethernet port with Auto MDI/MDIX and a single PoE injector port, while the receiver is equipped with one RJ-45 PoE/PSE port and one PoE extender port with auto-negotiation technology. Diagnostic LEDs on the front and back panels convey local operation status and help technicians troubleshoot network faults.

Synchronized communication protocols.

New communication protocols that support easier integration with third-party controllers while delivering industry-leading performance.

Kollmorgen has announced the latest update to its AKD2G servo drive. With the introduction of these new features, Kollmorgen has broadened its offerings to additionally support PROFINET IRT and Ethernet/IP with CIP Sync alongside CANopen®*, EtherCAT®*, and FSoE time-synchronized communication protocols. Each protocol is rigorously tested with a variety of motion controllers and certified by industry standards organizations.

The AKD2G servo drive update allows for synchronized motion between multiple drives using a wide variety of control architectures. Thanks to its flexibility and high performance, AKD2G is the ideal drive for use in applications that require highly precise coordination across multiple axes of motion.

The drive features industry-leading power density in a compact package and is easy to mount — with one- and two-axis variants available. Engineers can leverage single-cable Smart Feedback Device (SFD) or HIPERFACE®* DSL connections or choose from a wide range of other feedback devices.

Finally, the drive features an optional SafeMotion® Monitor (SMM) firmware with a safety level of SIL3/PLe to meet functional safety needs and enable a wider range of applications.

Wireless air treatment.

Emerson is creating sustainable solutions for their customers with CoreTigo's wireless industrial automation technologies. The collaboration tackles the challenges of Compressed Air Management in machinery, ultimately reducing energy waste and CO2 emissions, while enhancing maintenance efficiency and operational processes.

The solution enhances Emerson’s AVENTICS high-end air flow and pressure regulation units, by supplementing and retrofitting these into wireless units with CoreTigo’s IO-Link Wireless products. Named the “Energy Saver”, the solution provides a holistic approach that creates the most cost-efficient and simple way to enhance production lines with an advanced air treatment application.

The Aventics AF2 Air Flow Sensor and EV12 Pressure Regulator are each connected to CoreTigo’s IO-Link Wireless Bridge (TigoBridge), which instantly converts it into a wireless device with industrial-grade communication capabilities. The TigoBridges transmit wirelessly to CoreTigo's IO-Link wireless gateway, while the Energy Saver provides a constant stream of airflow from “Floor to Cloud™” for analysis and monitoring. In addition, the solution from EMERSON controls the pressure regulation unit independently from the machine’s PLC or the air compressor, allowing intelligent operation without machine downtime or PLC programming. Maintaining control over air pressure is essential for ensuring the machine remains in a stable and secure state during periods of inactivity, while also minimizing pressure to prevent unnecessary air wastage.

The Energy Saver solution offers a range of benefits, including a reduction in CO2 emissions through minimized air leakages and optimized machine idle mode operation. It ensures sustainability and compliance with regulatory standards, promoting environmentally friendly manufacturing. By preventing prolonged non-optimal air flow, it minimizes unplanned downtime and maintenance requirements, while reducing cable wear and tear thanks to its wireless setup. Its simple deployment requires no modifications to the PLC setup or complex cabling layouts. Furthermore, it contributes to cost savings by lowering energy expenses and reducing maintenance and deployment costs overall.

Hummingbird has appointed James Adams as Global Sales Manager, to provide a worldwide focus and enhanced sales support across the team.

James Adams
James first joined Hummingbird as an apprentice in 2007 and developed his career over 13 years. He returns to the company with a broader experience and a wealth of knowledge from the industry, which will benefit the Hummingbird team and both existing and new customers.

Metal-free pumps.

Electrophoresis with agarose gel is an important method for analysis and quality control in the life sciences. The basis for precise results is the accurate filling of the agarose columns. This process works with metal-free pumps from HNP Mikrosysteme GmbH.

Pumps from HNP Mikrosysteme are used for demanding filling tasks in various industrial sectors. One task is the production of agarose columns for electrophoresis applications. Here, a low-percentage agarose solution is filled into plastic capillaries at up to 65 °C in dosing quantities of 30 µl - 50 µl. The modular pump mzr-2942 is used. It is a metal-free pump. The wetted parts of this pump are made of ceramic and PEEK to prevent transfer of metal ions.

Agarose gels are used, for example, for the quality control of DNA and RNA samples after critical work steps during the production of genomic libraries. Sample volumes of only 2 µl - 5 µl are required. The results are available after just 20 to 30 minutes.

HNPM pumps ensure process reliability in applications where extremely small quantities of liquids are required. Five series of micro annular gear pumps (mzr-pumps) enable the smallest dosing volumes from 0.25 µl and volume flows from 1 µl/h to 1152 ml/min.
